We are really chuffed to announce that we are now supporting local rower, Greg Searle, as he attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Greg trains locally with Molesey Rowing Club. Marlow-born Greg grew up in Chertsey, Surrey and has been rowing since the age of 13. At just 16, Greg represented Great Britain at the Junior World Championships and did so again at age 17 and 18. He won two gold medals at junior level, making him Great Britain’s most successful junior rower ever. Greg represented the Great Britain senior team at the World Championships from 1990-1999 winning various events with gold, silver and bronze medals. He has also won gold at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, bronze at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games and finished 4th at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
“I am really grateful to Scotthall Stirling Corner and MINI for their support,” said Greg. “It’s tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it’s a big help knowing that they are behind us, helping to raise funds and awareness. It’s also fantastic having a brand new car from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There’s a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it’s great being able to arrive there in style.”
